Colorado Military

David Tracy Tyrer was in WW2. He received a Silver Star and purple heart at Camp Atlanta NE June 14 , 1944 flag day ceremony. Lt Colonel Leonard Smith commanding officer of the Atlanta Prisoner of War Camp Pinned one of the Army’s most coveted medals for gallantry in Sicillian Campaign after being wounded.

He also brought home a little goat that came with discharge paper.

I, (Carol Farkas), can not find anything about him, Only way this can be verified is by looking in a book called Prisoners on the Plains page 142 and `143. The goats name was Beachhead Murphy his papers for section 10 discharge was made Jume 3 1944.

(The goats discharge papers) . There was a cat named Anzio Andy he came out with also.

The book Prisoners on the Plains German POWS In America by Glenn Thompson.

I held his medals in my hands as a child, I have no idea where they are now. And I would like to see him in the ww2 history. I was told there was a fire and they lost a lot of the records. This is the only way I can verify his story. Also he is buried in Fort Logan along with his 2 brothers

They called him Jack Tyrer His real name was David Tracy Tyrer
